
Dr Sabharwal is the 4th generation doctor in his family of 140 doctors. His special interest is in Shoulder Surgery and Sports Injuries of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee, ankle.
He returned to Delhi after completing years of fellowship training in Upper Limb Surgery and Arthroscopic (Key Hole) Surgery for Sports Injuries from Adelaide, Australia. He worked at the hospitals associated with the Southern Adelaide Health Network, one of which being the FMC which is the largest tertiary care center in South Australia. He has undergone special training in Shoulder and Elbow Disorders at the Repatriation General Hospital, Adelaide, Australia.
He has trained under prominent figures like Prof. Krishnan, Prof. Greg Bain and Dr. Meng Ling known worldwide for their work in Upper Limb Pathologies.
Eminent Sports Injury surgeons like Dr. Shannon Sim, Dr. Mario Penta, Dr. Matthew Liptak were his mentors during his training in Australia.
His focus in Australia was on the management of complex sports injuries in both professional and amateur athletes.
Many professional athletes of international repute (wrestlers, golfers, tennis players, squash players, cricketers, shooters, kabaddi players, swimmers, gymnasts, runners, cyclists, badminton players, basketball players, football players etc.) representing India/State have benefitted from his expert diagnosis, surgical skills and rehabilitation advise. He has helped them go back to their pre-injury performance level.
He has been a sports specialist for many Sporting Leagues and Associations, like the Pro Kabaddi league, Wrestling league, ISL, Sports Authority of India, Olympic Association to name a few.
The joint replacement fellowship at RGH, Australia enabled Dr. Sabharwal to fine tune his skills in Shoulder and Elbow Joint replacement along with Total Knee Replacement under guidance of Dr. Graham Mercer, Dr. Chris Wilson and Dr. J Cabot.
During his time spent in Australia, he gained a special skill of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and is one of the first orthopedic surgeons in Delhi to utilize the benefits of in-office ultrasound for the prompt diagnosis and treatment of many shoulder and other joint complaints. Dr Sabharwal has also completed an advanced course in MSK Ultrasound. To maintain clinical skills and standards, he has attended musculo-skeletal ultrasound conferences and workshops overseas.
He graduated from Pune and then completed his internship at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, New Delhi from where he pursued into post graduate Orthopaedic training, obtaining his Masters in Orthopedic Surgery from Rajiv Gandhi University in 2009. He then worked in the Government Sector for 3 years at the prestigious Maulana Azad Medical College & Lok Nayak Hospital after which he worked for a short duration at the Artemis Health Institute, Gurgaon before leaving for Australia.
With a principal interest in Upper Limb pathology & Sports Injury Management by Arthroscopy, Dr. Sabharwal’s latest and modern overseas training also includes Upper Limb (Shoulder, Elbow), Lower Limb (Knee, Hip) Joint Replacement and complex trauma surgery.
He has an experience of performing hundreds of arthroscopies and replacements for various joint problems.
He has written a book chapter on elbow arthroscopy which is a skill mastered in India only by a few and Dr Sabharwal being one of them. His research in Adelaide also included pre and post operative shoulder replacement assessment to improve outcomes of surgery.
He has multiple scientific papers to his credit that have been published in well known national and international indexed journals. He has also done presentations of his work at national and international forums.
On his return to India, he has been consulting & operating in New Delhi, to provide super specialty health benefits with the same level of advanced expertise and care as in Australia.
